Well, I have no experience with that exact drive - but in general USB3 is much faster than any mechanical drive like yours, and even faster than most SSD drives. You will find plenty of TB docks out there, like the ones from Belkin and OWC /, and many of these are great and can cure a lot of connectivity hassles - but none of them are 'hubs' in the correct sense of the word. Thanks a lot! You will find plenty of TB docks out there, like the ones from Belkin and OWC /, and many of these are great and can cure a lot of connectivity hassles - but none of them are 'hubs' in the correct sense of the word.

But in terms of 'multiplying' your existing TB ports - they won't do that. If the extra ports that these docks have will cure some other connection issues in your setup, then. So these docks won't help you connect more TB devices that lack their own daisy-chain capabilities. but these docks do not ADD extra Thunderbolt ports they don't have one TB input and two or more TB outputs for instance. There ARE Thunderbolt DOCKS, which pass Thunderbolt downstream (daisy-chain style) and 'peel off' other format ports like FireWire, Ethernet, display connectors, etc. The term 'hub' implies that there is 'splitting' going on, like with a USB hub that has one connection to the computer and four or more ports for downstream devices. Just FYI - there really isn't such a thing as a 'Thunderbolt hub' in the same sense that there are USB hubs.
